As the basic carrier of marine investigation and research, scientific research ship is the embodiment of a country's comprehensive national strength. The deep-sea geological winch system is used for lifting and recycling of deep-sea geological sampling instruments, and is the basic configuration equipment of ocean-going scientific research vessels. At present, almost all the geological winch systems used on domestic deep-sea scientific research ships are imported from developed countries such as Norway, which limits the development of supporting equipment for scientific research ships in China. A few days ago, the national key research and development plan "deep sea key technology and equipment" key special project "whole sea deep geological winch system development" project participated by the scientific research team of Dalian Maritime University has made significant research progress, successfully developed the whole sea deep geological winch system, and has successfully passed the workshop land joint debugging test, and the key core components of the system have realized 100 localization.

Professor Li Wenhua from the School of Marine Engineering of Dalian Maritime University introduced that the geological winch system is used for geological sampling on scientific research ships, submarine biological trawl sampling and lifting instruments. It is an indispensable equipment in the exploration and development of deep-sea resources. With the marine scientific research gradually moving from near shore to ocean, the working depth of the scientific research ship is getting deeper and deeper, and the cable of the corresponding geological winch system will be longer and longer, and the rope capacity of the drum has exceeded 13000m, which puts forward strict requirements for the large load traction winch, cable discharge mechanism and cable collection and release control system of the deep-sea geological winch system.

However, almost all the geological winch systems used on domestic deep-sea scientific research ships are imported from developed countries such as Norway. Therefore, it is urgent to carry out independent research and development of the localization of the whole-sea deep-sea geological winch system, so as to provide scientific and technological support for the development and utilization of China's deep-sea resources and the construction of a transportation power and a marine power.

In August 2018, with the recommend of the Ministry of Transport, the national key research and development plan "deep-sea key technology and equipment" led by Nantong Liwei Machinery Co., Ltd. was approved by the Ministry of Science and Technology. There are 6 topics with a total funding of 20.63 million yuan. the team of professor li wenhua of dalian maritime university participated in the research work of this project in the whole process, relying on platforms such as "international joint research center of submarine engineering technology and equipment" of dalian maritime university science and technology department, liaoning key laboratory of ship mechatronics and dalian marine equipment engineering technology research center, as well as the existing technical foundation of nantong liwei machinery co., ltd, jointly with the 78th Research Institute of China Shipbuilding Industry Corporation, Harbin Engineering University, the 710th Research Institute of China Shipbuilding Industry Corporation, Shanghai Rainbow Fish Ocean Technology Co., Ltd., Juli Rigning Co., Ltd., and Zhejiang Sibrother Rope Industry Co., Ltd. coordinated to carry out technical research.
